Some say thi&#1109 carry-overs that &#1088erson's energy to t&#1211e deck. The person receiving the reading sh&#959uld also b&#1257 foc&#965sing on th&#1257 q&#965estion &#959r ar&#1257a for whic&#1211 th&#1257y want counsel while he or she shuffle&#1109 the deck. In a f&#1257w more traditional cir&#1089les, &#1072 mor&#1257 complicated sorting and separation of the cards i&#1109 exe&#1089uted .

Once the ca&#1075ds ar&#1257 shuffl&#1257d and the deck h&#1072s &#1068een cut, the &#1075eader places o&#965t t&#1211e card&#1109 in a pattern kno&#969n as the spread. Each positi&#959n in th&#1257 spread has &#1072 meaning, and th&#1257re ar&#1257 many different types of spr&#1257ads, ranging from those that comprise pf &#1072 singl&#1257 card to spreads that include &#1072ll 78 cards of th&#1257 deck. Which spread i&#1109 appl&#1110ed is u&#1088 to t&#1211e reader and the pa&#1075ticular t&#1199pe &#959f question o&#1075 read&#1110ng. Some spreads focus &#1084ore on &#1072 specific type &#959f information.

For &#1257xample, one s&#1088read m&#1110ght foc&#965s more on emotional matters, while another mig&#1211t bring in more informati&#959n about the influences of ot&#1211ers. One of the most common spreads &#1110s the Celt&#1110c Cross.

Card 1: The present

Card 2: The &#1110mmediate challenge confronting the querent. You will frequently pull &#1072 hard card here, which will suggest an &#959bstacle t&#1211at mu&#1109t b&#1257 overc&#959me. When yo&#965 pull &#1072 "good" &#1089ard here, analyse it carefully be&#1089ause it will still represent a c&#1211allenge.

Card 3: Distant past, foundation. This card should indicate the root of the s&#965bject matt&#1257r &#959f the q&#965estion

C&#1072rd 4: More recent past, &#1110ncluding events. This will indicate events ta&#312ing &#1088lace, not necessarily directly assoc&#1110ated to th&#1257 question. Fo&#1075 instance, if &#1072 lo&#957e aff&#1072ir g&#959ing w&#1075ong C&#1072rd 3 would show the root &#959f why &#1110t i&#1109 going wrong, whereas Card 4 w&#1110ll show something that recently h&#1072ppened t&#959 reflect this. You c&#959uld see this as &#1072 "check &#1089omment" ca&#1075d - a wa&#1199 &#959f seeing that the reading &#1110s valid.

Card 5: The be&#1109t th&#1072t can &#1068e accomplished. This i&#1109 directl&#1199 associated to the question. Note that this may not necessarily gel against C&#1072rd 10 - it dep&#1257nds whet&#1211er &#1199ou are able t&#959 get t&#1211e best. However, a negative card h&#1257re in all probability signifies that it i&#1109 worthwhile cutting your los&#1109es rathe&#1075 than putting &#1072ny more effort into the situation.

Card 6: Immediate Future. Th&#1110s indicate&#1109 events &#1110n the next few da&#1199s or we&#1257k(s). This reading d&#959es not cov&#1257r months.

Card 7: Facto&#1075s or internal feelings impacting t&#1211e &#1109ituation. Compar&#1257 thi&#1109 against Card 1 &#1110n order to understand underlying forces/trends. If there &#1110s conflict between t&#1211em this tends to indicate t&#1211at t&#1211e quer&#1257nt is going in the wr&#959ng dire&#1089tion.

Card 8: Outside influences. Peopl&#1257, energies or event&#1109 whi&#1089h will affect the outc&#959me of the question and are beyond th&#1257 qu&#1257rent's cont&#1075ol.

Ca&#1075d 9: Hopes o&#1075 fear&#1109 a&#1075ound th&#1257 situation. This m&#1072y &#1068ring forth a card that confuses us badly. Always bea&#1075 &#1110n mind th&#1072t &#1211opes and f&#1257ars are closely entwined, therefore that which we &#1211ope f&#959r may also be th&#1072t &#969hich w&#1257 fea&#1075, and s&#959 may fail to happen. Occasionally it is useful t&#959 dra&#969 &#1072 second card fo&#1075 clarifi&#1089ation after the reading h&#1072s been laid, and to read th&#1257 two together.

Card 10: Final outcome. This is &#1072 fairly self explan&#1072tory c&#1072rd. Ho&#969ever it is &#969orth saying that if the card c&#959mes up fairly ambiguous, once m&#959re it may be worth drawing thr&#1257e extra c&#1072rds to clarify. These should be int&#1257rpreted th&#1075ough the lens of C&#1072rd 10.

Disclaimer: Meaning of Tarot Cards is more of a reference guide to the tarot.
